Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 30 November 2018. Grupo Tello Alimentación, a company celebrating its 50th anniversary in the high-quality food sector in 2018, is holding its Christmas Charity Meals for the fourth consecutive year. Around 900 meals will be distributed to those most in need at soup kitchens in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, so that they can enjoy a very special dinner on this significant occasion.
This Charity Menu, created by chef Erlantz Gorostiza – culinary director and head chef at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant “Martin Berasateguí – Abama” – in collaboration with students from the Canary Islands Hotel Schools (HECANSA), was presented today by the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo and Erlantz Gorostiza himself, who, alongside the Managing Director of the Tello Alimentación Group, Alfonso Alcázar, the heads of HECANSA and representatives from the soup kitchens, demonstrated the best way to prepare these charity menus.
A Charity Menu for which the Tello Alimentación Group provides the main ingredients and makes the necessary arrangements to ensure this initiative goes ahead. Diners will enjoy a three-course dinner: a starter of salted butter toffee with peas and Iberian pork head; a main course of roast Tello pork shank with cauliflower purée and its thickened gravy; and for dessert, a no-bake chocolate curd.
Through this initiative, the Tello Alimentación Group wishes to celebrate Christmas once again by helping those most in need with healthy, high-quality food for all. Grupo Tello Alimentación’s charity meal schemes have been very well received in previous years and have now become a tradition at this special time of year. In 2018, the same dedication and commitment as always are being put into these charity meal schemes, which are not limited to the Canary Islands but are also carried out in other provinces across Spain, such as Madrid.
However, Grupo Tello Alimentación’s commitment to charitable causes is not limited to the Christmas period; it is a year-round endeavour, involving food donations – which in the Canary Islands alone total 4 tonnes annually – and collaboration with public and private organisations such as Cáritas and Mensajeros de la Paz on issues of labour and social integration, as well as cultural activities. The aim is to always keep the most disadvantaged in mind and help create a fairer and more caring world.
